Jazzed up the shop a little…
I’ve made a few updates to EnergyEfficientIreland.ie, most notably to the shop.
Looks a little bit more like a real shop now

I’m delighted to announce that the music videos I have made for Good Man Sheila are now finished and uploaded.

Good Man Sheila
You can see them all here on my Vimeo page.
Overall, I’m happy with how they turned out. This was my first time doing anything like this and we only had a few hours in the hall.
The biggest rookie mistake I made was to record the audio track for the wide shots of each song and those were then the tracks to sync to.
However, it should have been the close-ups of the singers that I recorded the audio on, as these are by far the most difficult to sync up.
It means that in one or two locations, the vocals are slightly out of sync with the image but for the most part it’s unnoticeable.
One big disappointment was that I wanted to edit the videos using Avid MC5, so that I could learn to use it.
Unfortunately, I discovered that Avid doesn’t deal with DSLR footage very well; It’s a complete mess, actually! It took me a wasted day to figure this out, but live & learn!
So, back to Premiere Pro I went and I have to say it was a welcome reprieve after a day of banging my head against a wall with Avid!
On Sunday I had the pleasure of working with young, fun, up and coming local Mullingar band Good Man Sheila.
I took a few photos for them but was mainly there to get some videos together, so they can show themselves off a little bit.
I’m currently editing the videos and they should be finished by the weekend. Today, though, it was nice to see the photos already getting some action, as one of them was featured in an article in the Westmeath Topic.
Here’s a link to the article so you can see for yourselves –

I was delighted to finally get out and put my new Canon 60D to good use and I’m very happy with the footage I got.
I made a few little rookie mistakes and there are one or two things I would do differently if I was doing it again, but it was great experience. Live and learn!
It went off the radar for a long time but it’s up and running now.
Have a look at the new Sheelin Boats website I’ve designed and built.
As someone who is still in the early stages of my web design career, I am constantly trying to strike a balance between how things are done and how I think things should be done.
This is a very nice article which ties in with how I feel about pricing structures for websites.
I’m delighted to say that the Energy Efficient Ireland site I’ve been building is officially live now.
I opted to convert the whole thing to WordPress, my own experiences with the WP system were good enough to warrant it.
In the process of doing so, I have become a guru in WordPress Theme development. Next stop: Plugins!
Hey,
So I’ve been wrestling with a very dodgy broadband connection the last 6 months as all I could get in my area was a dongle.
A couple of weeks ago, it really hit the fan when the summer came in and the leaves burst forth upon the trees. Bye bye internet.
Plenty of stress but hopefully it’s all behind me now as I have moved into a new place with a real connection. Hallelujah!
I’ll be in touch
I was delighted to discover that I was already using most of these but there are always a few little bits of new info floating about in these lists.
Hope you find it useful too.
